Exactly one week ago, prominent Nollywood filmmaker, Fidelis Duker and his wife, Temitope, escaped death after their car, a Mercedes Benz SUV, summersaulted at the Stadium area of Surulere, Lagos.
The Dukers, were on their way home when the incident happened at Alaka.
Few minutes ago, the former President of the Directors Guild of Nigeria, DGN, and boss of FAD FM, took to his social media handle, to relive the experience…..
“THIN LINE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH ….. (PROCLAMING THE DEVIL A LIAR)
I said I will not share this experience until I have testified to God with THANKS and I did that today with gratitude to God.
Exactly a week we survived a ghastly car accident in the commercial city of Lagos. For reasons best known to me, its been a period of sober reflection, understanding the true meaning of GRACE, MERCY and LOVE of God in our lives and importantly the need to thank God always.
On that faithful Sunday the 12th of December 2021, I had gone to church and for those who know me and my shyness to dancing, but on this particular Sunday i danced exceedingly to the glory of GOD; proclaiming his blessings in my life through the year.
Later that evening, we attended a function at the Marriot Hotel GRA organised by the Creative Industry Group. Note when I say WE, I mean me and my wife Temitope Duker .
At the event, we met several of our friends, colleagues and people I call family and it was an evening to exchange pleasantries, banters and jokes while enjoying the fun-filled event, also thanking God as it was barely 19 more days to the end of the year.
As soon as it was 10pm, I told my wife it was time to leave and we decided to drive through Ikorodu road rather than 3rd mainland bridge ….. around Onipanu I stopped at a filling station to fill my tank and Immediately I continued the journey, approaching stadium, I discovered the bridge was shut down and we had to follow the service lane and just then the devil tried and FAILED ….. a Toyota salon car on top speed coming from the Shitta end beat the traffic light and ran into ML Benz sending the car to the culvet and somersaulting with the driver’s side now on the ground, smoke everywhere, engine still on and tyres up ….. at this time I was unconscious but God said no my son its not your time…..
Ironically at this point it was this same area boys we all detest who rushed with fear to rescue my wife who was conscious as she had raised her hands for help out of the shattered window of the car.
At that point the Area boys thought she was the only one in the car until she said i was still inside the car, that was when the boys summoned courage to rescue me in an unconscious state because the car was covered in smoke and recall I fill the tank 3 minutes earlier.
All this while I thought I was gone ….. whatever I am writing from the point of the accident is what my wife told me when I regained consciousness. Immediately we were rushed by a good Samaritan couple to Havana Hospital where we were treated. We must realise there are still many GOOD NIGERIANS including those we call area boys.
This incident has thought me that there is a thin line between life and death and that every minute you are alive is just the GRACE OF GOD.
I can not complete this miraculous survival story without thanking my brothers Paul Obazele, Emeka Ossai, Felix Duke and wife who were at the hospital immediately the accident occurred and of course several people known and unknown who either called, sent messages and had us in their prayers …… we say thank you
I have also decided I will not dignify the devil with the pictures of the accident rather I will post the pictures we were rejoicing moments before the accident and I can imagine what this pictures would be done the devil had succeeded…….
God will continue to protect his own ….. God be with you all and untimely will not be your portion in Jesus name. Amen”
